You care for your clients We’ll take care of the books behind your practice
You became a massage therapist, acupuncturist, counsellor or practitioner to help people, not to reconcile Jane App reports at 10pm. But between bookings, payments, insurance billing and the odd product sale, the numbers pile up fast.
Here’s the short version. We’re online bookkeepers for Canadian wellness practitioners who run their practice on Jane App. We work with your Jane reports to get the right information into your accounting, and not more than you need. You keep seeing clients. We keep your books, GST/HST and taxes right in the background.
Sound familiar?
- Jane says one thing, the bank says another. Card payments land in lump deposits, net of fees, on different days from the appointments.
- Insurance and direct billing payments arrive weeks later and are hard to match to the visit.
- GST/HST questions. Some health services are exempt and some aren’t, depending on your profession and province. Product sales are a separate question again.
- Room rent, splits and associates. Paying a clinic a percentage, or having practitioners pay you, makes the books trickier than they look.
- Tax time dread, and a feeling you’re probably missing deductions.
How we work with Jane App
Jane is excellent at running your practice. It isn’t your books. Today, most of our Jane work uses Jane’s report exports, brought into Xero or QuickBooks Online the right way, so your sales, payments, fees and insurance receipts all line up with your bank.
Jane’s integrations are getting better, and we’re working on new ways, including AI tools, to make the hand-off faster. What we don’t do is overload your books. We work with you to decide what you actually need out of Jane, and set it up so you get that and nothing extra.
What we do for your practice
- Monthly bookkeeping: every account reconciled, Jane payments matched to your bank, fees and insurance payments sorted.
- GST/HST: we confirm whether your services are taxable or exempt, track it properly, and file your returns if you’re registered.
- Clinic arrangements: room rent, percentage splits and associate payments recorded correctly.
- Year-end and tax for sole proprietors and professional corporations.
- Plain-English reports, so you know what you’re really earning per month, not just what got booked.
Running a professional corporation?
Many practitioners incorporate as their practice grows. The books have to be continuous, and how you pay yourself matters at tax time. We handle the corporate side too: T2 returns, T5 slips, and keeping your corporate and personal money cleanly separated.
What you can claim
Treatment supplies, linens and laundry, professional association dues, continuing education, insurance, your Jane subscription, and part of your home if you practise or do admin from there. The full list is in business expenses you can write off in Canada.
