The Books Check-Up — Terms
Last updated: September 8, 2026
Thanks for booking a Books Check-Up. These terms explain what you're getting, how it works, and what we each agree to. By paying for a Check-Up and submitting the intake form, you agree to the terms below.
WHAT THE BOOKS CHECK-UP IS
The Books Check-Up is a one-time review of your bookkeeping. Depending on your tier, we look at your file and give you:
- a recorded video walkthrough of your books,
- a written findings summary, and
- a priority action list.
It's a diagnostic — a clear picture of what's in your books and exactly what to do about it.
WHAT IT ISN'T
The Check-Up is not:
- a bookkeeping cleanup or catch-up,
- ongoing or monthly bookkeeping,
- an audit or assurance engagement, or
- the preparation or filing of any tax return or government form.
If your file needs fixing, we'll tell you what we found and can quote that work separately. The Check-Up is the review, not the repair.
THE TIERS
- Starter — $147 + GST
- Standard — $297 + GST
- Complex — $497 + GST
Prices are in Canadian dollars, with 5% GST added at checkout. Your tier reflects the software and complexity of your file. If your file turns out to be more involved than the tier you selected, we'll contact you before doing anything further.
HOW IT WORKS
1. You pay and complete the intake form.
2. You give us access to your file (we'll confirm exactly what we need).
3. Your turnaround starts on the day we have everything we need — access confirmed and intake complete.
4. Within 7–10 business days, you receive your walkthrough, findings, and action list.
We take a maximum of 10 Check-Ups per month, so timing depends on availability when you book.
YOUR PART
The Check-Up is only as good as the information we can see. You agree to give us accurate, complete access to the file and records we ask for. If access is delayed or incomplete, your turnaround starts when we actually have what we need.
WHAT OUR FINDINGS MEAN
Our findings are our professional observations and recommendations, based on your file as it stands at the time of review. They're advice to help you make informed decisions — not a guarantee, warranty, or certification that your books are correct or compliant. Acting on the findings is your decision, and we're not responsible for outcomes that result from information we weren't given or couldn't see. To the extent the law allows, our total responsibility for the Check-Up is limited to the fee you paid for it.
FEES AND THE FEE CREDIT
The full Check-Up fee credits toward your next engagement with us — either a package setup fee or your first remediation invoice — if you go ahead within 60 days of your findings date. One credit per client, and it can't be combined with other promotional pricing.
CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS
Because we begin as soon as we have access to your file, fees are non-refundable once your review has started. If you need to cancel before we've begun, contact us at team@kcandcompany.ca and we'll refund you in full.
YOUR PRIVACY
We keep your financial information confidential and use it only to carry out your Check-Up. We don't share it with anyone outside KC & Company without your permission, except where we're required to by law.
